Floor Yoga (Hybrid)
Yoga foundations, from the ground up
Service Description
A foundations class spent 90% on the floor. We’ll move at a slow, steady pace and work with the asana most commonly taught in yoga studios, with plenty of time for exploration and transitions. This class is designed for students who want to learn yoga without rushing, pushing, or frustration. Over the course of the winter season, students will be introduced to tadasana (mountain), vrksasana (tree), utkatasana (chair), virabhadrasana II (warrior II), trikonasana (triangle), and a modified surya namaskar (sun salutation). We’ll focus on anatomical foundations, practical alignment, and adaptable options so you can build a working understanding of these shapes in your own body. This class is gentler than a typical “gentle” class and is designed to support learning, choice, and long-term sustainability. Students should be able to get up and down from the floor twice during class and stand comfortably for up to ten minutes, though students are welcome to practice entirely on the floor. Hybrid note: This class is offered both in-person and online. Remote students are encouraged to set up a comfortable space at home with a mat, a chair, two blocks (or two stacks of books of equal height), a bolster (or firm cushion), a yoga strap (or belt), and a blanket. Instruction is designed to translate clearly through video, with plenty of time to adjust and adapt.
